Patterson families kick off summer with the return of Skate the Lot
PATTERSON, CA – June 28, 2025 –The City of Patterson’s Recreation and Community Services Department kicked off summer with a blast from the past as families came out in full force to enjoy the return of the beloved Skate the Lot event at the Community Complex parking lot.
From 7 to 9 p.m., the Community Complex parking lot transformed into a vibrant space filled with music, laughter, and movement as families and community members skated, biked, and scooted their way around the lot. The event focused on creating a safe, wheel-powered environment for all ages. A live DJ kept the energy high with upbeat music, while families enjoyed a variety of games and activities. Concessions were also available for purchase.
Skate the Lot is a modern reimagining of Skate the Circle, a community favorite that was placed on hold for several years. The Recreation and Community Services Department revived the event in 2024 at a new location that provides a safe, controlled environment. With over 100 skaters in attendance and a great group of spectators, this year’s turnout proved that community interest in Skate the Lot has not wavered.
“This event brings back so many great memories for our community and created new ones for families who experienced Skate the Lot for the first time,” expressed Ashley Weaver, Director of Recreation and Community Services. “It was wonderful to see community members enjoying quality time together in a fun and safe environment!”
All participants were required to complete waivers, and children attended under the supervision of a parent or guardian, to ensure a safe evening for everyone in attendance.
Skate the Lot is part of the department’s continued commitment to creating meaningful experiences for all generations, fostering a sense of community and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
